GJ export India grew by 9.70% YoY

According to the available figures gem-n-jewellery exports of India grew by 9.70% in April 2016 to January 2017 period over the same period, April 2015 to January 2016.

As of January 31, India exported total 2.15 mn cts of cut-n-polished diamonds worth of Rs10,656.76Cr or say of $1,575.82mn in January 2017 while during the same period of previous year cut-n-polished diamond exports was of 2.21mn cts of Rs10,398.95Cr, or of US$ 1,561.20 that shows a growth of 15.61% in Rupee term while in dollar term the January has grown cut-n-polished by 12.00% YoY.

On other hand cut-n-polished diamond export registered a growth 9.44% for the period of April 2016 to January 2017 over the same period of previous year. During the April 2016 to January 2017 total 25.05mn cts of cut & polished diamonds exported worth of Rs121,253.23 or say of $18,259.13mn while same period of previous year had seen export of 25.91mn cts worth Rs 104,880.69Cr or of $ 16,303.37mn pushed growth 9.44% YoY.

During the January 2017 gold jewellery registered exports of Rs399.30Cr or of $59.06 mn, while in January 2016 gold jewellery export had registered of Rs564.42Cr or in dollar term that was of $ 84.64mn.

April to January 2017 gold jewellery registered exports of Rs7,153.62 Cr or in dollar term of $1,076.95mn against same period of April to January 2016, previous year had remained Rs 7,077.75Cr & in dollar 1,099.80 mn that shows growth of 1.07% in Rupee term while graph goes to negative growth of -2.08% in dollar term.

Total export registered in January 2017 of Rs11,697.62 or of $1,729.02 against same month of previous year Rs 11,490.62 & of $1,725.12 while April 2016 to January 2017 total export registered worth Rs 134,351.13Cr  & in $ 20,228.39 over April 2015 to January 2016, Rs116,788.69Cr & in $18,158.38mn. Overall export grew by 9.70% on YoY.

On Import front rough sourcing bounced after the end of demonetisation phase & accordingly in January India imported total rough diamond of 5.84 mn cts in January 2017 over the same period of 2016 of 4.61mn cts. Thus April 2015 & January 2016 registered import of rough diamonds of 44.30 mn cts & this grew to 47.87mn cts during April 2016 to January 2017. Over all rough import bounced to register a growth of 23.17%!
