2018, a crucial year for the KP!

2018 will be a crucial year for the Kimberley Process, in working for tangible progress for the honest diamond trade, and meeting the call of the international community to ensure that the Kimberley process remains fit for purpose in a changing world through reform.

We will launch practical work right away. In the first quarter of 2018, we will reach out to the Chairs of the Kimberley Process working bodies to develop a joint work programme, which we will share with all of you. We will take stock of our joint efforts at the Intersessional in Antwerp at 19-22 June.

The Brisbane Plenary, in December 2017, has taken important decisions. The newly created Ad Hoc Committee for Review and Reform under Indian Chairmanship and with Angola as Vice-Chair will have an important role to play. “As Chair, we are committed to acting as an honest broker, and to working in a pragmatic

and transparent way” said, Hilde Hardeman, Chair of the Kimberley Process 2018.

Said at the start of the European Union's Chairmanship of the Kimberley Process, “ I am confident that we can succeed.”
