Mehul Choksi

Mr. Mehul Choksi, Chairman and Managing Director Gitanjali Group, one of the largest integrated Indian diamond and jewellery manufacturing and retailing companies, is today one of the best known entrepreneurs of the gems and jewellery industry in the country, and a well-recognized name in the global industry as well.

Mr. Choksi began his association with the business when at a very young age and played an active role in it while still in college, assuming a leadership position in 1981. In 1985 he was instrumental in forming Gitanjali Gems Ltd, the flagship company of the Group ever since.

Gitanjali Group is one of the largest branded jewellery retailers in the world. It is headquartered in Mumbai, India Gitanjali sells its jewellery through over 4000 Points of Sale and enjoys a market share of over 50 per cent of the overall organized jewellery market in India. Prominent brands housed by the group are Nakshatra, D'damas, Gili, Asmi, Sangini, Maya, Giantti, World of Solitaire, Shuddhi, Diya to name a few. The group has also diversified into the infrastructure space and is developing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in India, primarily for the Gems and Jewellery industry.
