34 auctions for large rough in 2020
Alrosa plans to hold 34 international auctions for special size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) in 2020. According to the announcement, in Q1, the company will have seven auctions, in Q2 - eight, in Q3 - seven, and in Q4 - 12 auctions will be held in 2020.
The largest number of auctions, eleven, will take place in Moscow, three auctions will be held in Vladivostok. Other tenders will take place in the largest international diamond trading centres, where Alrosa has trading representative offices. The company will have three auctions in Antwerp (Belgium), four – in Dubai (UAE), five – in Ramat Gan (Israel), four – in Hong Kong (China), and four – in New York (USA).
“Russian law stipulates that special size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) must be auctioned. In general, such auctions attract up to 100 companies from different countries. Auction sales currently account for about 10% of our overall sales volumes”, said Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of Alrosa.
