Akshay Tritiya 2018 grew over 30% YoY!
According to the average sales registered by jewellers in general is over 30% YoY! According to Ishu Datwani, Founder, Anmol – “The customer sentiment this Akshaya Tritiya has been very good. The footfalls have been high since morning & we have done great sales especially in gold jewellery. We did 25% higher sales this Akshaya Tritiya, compared to last year”.
Aditya Pethe, Director, WHP Jewellers said, “So far, the season has been good and the customer’s reaction has been encouraging this Akshaya Tritya. We have seen a 25 to 30% hike in footfall year. There was a demand for lightweight gold jewellery amongst buyers during this festive season amongst buyers. Akshaya Tritiya sets the mood for the rest of the year as it is followed by wedding season so we hope that the rest of the year will too be positive for the industry”.
Samir Sagar, Director, Manubhai Jewellers - “Akshaya Tritiya is one of those auspicious days where gold is purchased as a mark of prosperity. We saw a 10-15% rise in the footfalls at the store as compared to last year. This year we launched new designs as an offering for Akshaya Tritiya and the response was fabulous. It is good to see that consumers are more inclined towards purchasing wearable jewellery over bullions as an investment. This year too we witnessed a rise of 15% in the overall sales of jewellery.”
Looking at the post festive, Abhishek Chanda, Director, Kalasha Fine Jewels, “Gems and jewellery industry has been positive about sales to escalate this season and we have witnessed the gold price increasing gradually. With the change in purchasing habits of the modern customers, who displays more interest in wearing that hoarding their gold investments, lightweight jewellery is more in demand this Akshaya Tritiya.
Our stores witnessed an increase of 60% as compared to regular and wedding season days as it's considered auspicious. Many retail stores in South India open from as early as 7:00 am in the morning owing to rush. Pertaining to sales, we are at about 30% higher this year when compared to last year”.

One of the vibrant player Tanya Rastogi, Director, Lala Jugal Kishore Jewellers - “As compared to last Akshaya Tritiya, business has witnessed a growth of 20-25% this festive season. Customers are opting more for gold jewellery. Since 2008, there has been a rise of 160% in the gold price.
However, people are still opting for gold jewellery and by looking at this, I believe that gold will continue to maintain its sheen. Also, as the wedding season is around, this has given us a kick start. Overall, the Akshaya Tritiya is good”.
